WHAT'S A JEEP® JAMBOREE? It's a full two-day, family-oriented four-wheel-drive adventure that's probably unlike anything you've ever experienced. Jeep® Jamborees cater to every level of expertise so they're fun for everyone — from novice to veteran and everyone in between. Any Jeep vehicle with a 4-LO transfer case can participate: that includes everything from showroom stock all the way up to highly modified rigs. Experienced guides help navigate you through scenic switchbacks and some of the most challenging off-highway situations you never thought your Jeep vehicle was capable of. And, perhaps best of all, you'll be meeting and making new friends every day. |

2006 Jeep Jamboree Events on the Rubicon Trail |
| August 11-13 - 10th Rubicon Trail |

THE KING OF OFF-ROAD TRAILS - Originally a footpath for Native Americans, the Rubicon Trail was used by fur trappers, explorers, and surveyors in search of a clear path across the Sierra Nevada mountain range. Today Jeep® owners travel from all over the world to test their prowess on the most grueling 22 miles of off-highway driving in America. Trail guides will expertly spot you and your Jeep 4x4 over legendary obstacles such as "Big Sluice" and the ever-challenging "Cadillac Hill" for an experience you'll never forget. At each day's well-earned end, fabulous outdoor cooking awaits you. George Wheeldon, professor of geology, and Brian Hayes, professor of Native American studies, provide informative, historical, and educational talks about the surrounding area. Tow hooks, skid plates, rock rails, and 31" tires mandatory.

Kids 6-12 - $150

Trail Ratings |
Every Jeep® Jamboree is rated from 1 (easiest) to 10 (most difficult). These ratings are based on the overall trail, not just on one or two tough obstacles. Rain can increase ratings on all trails by one or two points. Numerically higher-rated Jamborees are more likely to result in vehicle damage. Please remember, every Jeep 4x4 is subject to inspection prior to trail departure.
Regardless of the rating and your experience level, you'll get plenty of help on your Jeep Jamboree. For starters, when you register you'll receive a gift certificate for a free copy of Mark A. Smith's Guide to Safe, Common Sense Off-Road Driving . It is filled with useful off-highway driving tips. Once you arrive at your Jamboree destination, you'll get basic on-site instruction as well.
 |
Obstacles and terrain are relatively easy to navigate. In optimum weather conditions, some trails may not require continual use of four-wheel drive (4WD). |
 |
Moderately demanding. Challenge for novice drivers. Requires 4WD with 4-LO. Obstacles may include: mud holes, boulders, and streams. |
 |
Demanding. Likelihood of getting stuck is high. Mud holes may be deep and rock climbing is more arduous. Lifts and lockers are helpful. |
 |
Very demanding. Reserved for the toughest off-highway trip in the country—the Rubicon Trail. (Not recommended for Jeep Liberty, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee or Commander.) |

No. There's a mix of first-timers (about 33 percent, in fact) and veterans — who may be on their tenth Jamboree.
WHAT DOES THE JAMBOREE COVER?
Your fee covers all necessary permits, experienced guides for the entire trip, three meals on both Friday and Saturday ("Just Trails" adventures include evening meals only), and a continental breakfast on Sunday. NOTE: Meals vary. Regretfully, no accommodations can be made for special diets. CAN I BRING MY JEEP LIBERTY, CHEROKEE, GRAND CHEROKEE, OR COMMANDER?
Of course! All new Jeep 4x4 vehicles with a 4-LO transfer case are Trail Rated® and are tested on demanding 4x4 trails. But, the Liberty, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Commander vehicles aren't recommended for the Rubicon Trail Jamboree. Your Jeep four-wheel-drive vehicle is required to be in good condition, with good tires, brakes, and seat belts. In addition, we require prior approval for larger Jeep 4x4s, such as Grand Wagoneers and J-Series Pickups. Jeep Jamboree USA reserves the right to refuse participation to any applicant whose vehicle exceeds size restrictions.
COULD MY VEHICLE BE DAMAGED ON A JEEP® JAMBOREE?
Every effort is made by Jeep® Jamboree USA to make the trails as safe as possible. Participants are advised to closely follow the instructions given by trail guides, spotters, and Jeep Jamboree USA. However, there's the possibility of receiving damage to your vehicle when traveling over rough terrain. Any damage is the owner's responsibility. Remember, Jamborees with higher numerical difficulty ratings are more likely to encounter terrain that may contribute to vehicular damage. Participants are required to sign a waiver form.
IS THERE MORE THAN ONE TRAIL AT A GIVEN DESTINATION?
It varies. Most Jeep Jamborees feature multiple trails with varying degrees of difficulty.
CAN MY FRIEND WHO OWNS A TOYOTA ALSO PARTICIPATE?
Only if he or she rides in your Jeep 4x4! Jeep Jamborees are strictly for Jeep 4x4s. No exceptions.
IS THE JEEP JAMBOREE STILL ON IN THE EVENT OF SNOW OR HEAVY RAIN?
Absolutely! We're talking about Jeep 4x4s here!
DOES MY JEEP 4X4 NEED SPECIAL EQUIPMENT FOR A JEEP JAMBOREE?
Yes! The following equipment is MANDATORY for Jeep 4x4s participating in a Jeep Jamboree:
- Jeep vehicles must have four-wheel drive with a low-range (4-LO) transfer case
- Front and rear tow hooks must be properly mounted to the frame with grade-eight bolts
- Drawbars, receiver hitches, or aftermarket bumpers with manufacturers installed clevis or d-ring anchor points are acceptable as an alternate to tow hooks. If you don't have tow hooks, you may be turned away at registration without a refund
- All open-topped vehicles, including older models (CJs, Scramblers, and Willys), must have roll bars
- A full-size spare tire in case of puncture; a space-saver spare (donut) won't do
STRONGLY RECOMMENDED EQUIPMENT:
- Skid plates covering the oil pan, gas tank, and transfer case. Mandatory for the Rubicon Trail
- Rock rails for Jeep® Liberty, Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Commander vehicles registered for more aggressive, higher-rated trails. Rock rails are iron moldings designed to protect your Jeep vehicle's rocker panels (sills) from damage and are strongly advised for Jeep Jamborees with rocky terrain. Mandatory for the Rubicon Trail. (Please contact the Jeep Jamboree USA office for additional information.)
- Heavy-duty, 20-foot nylon tow straps (20,000 pound minimum rating) with looped ends (no hooks) Tow straps with metal hooks are not permitted
- Body lifts or suspension lifts up to six inches (combined), are permitted. Running boards and snowplow frames are not permitted
- Tires over 37" are not permitted
WHEN IS THE CUTOFF FOR NEW TRIP REGISTRATIONS AND/OR ADDING PASSENGERS?
You may register and/or add passengers until three weeks prior to the trip date. All new trip registrations and/or added passengers must sign a waiver. If only adding passengers to your Jeep 4x4, select the "Adding Passengers Only" box on the registration form.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING IN ADDITION TO MY JEEP 4X4?
Here's what we recommend you pack: 1) A CB radio. It's a great way to communicate on the trail and is highly recommended, 2) Snacks, 3) A tent, if camping, 4) Warm clothes. It may not be cold when you arrive, but temperatures can drop overnight, 5) Insect repellent and sunscreen, 6) A camera with lots of film and/or a video camera, 7) Flashlights with fresh batteries, 8) An ice chest filled with your favorite NON-ALCOHOLIC beverages. NOTE: ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE NOT PERMITTED ON ANY TRAIL RIDE. Violators will be removed from the Jeep Jamboree — money will not be refunded, and those involved will be banned from all future Jeep Jamborees. |
